Frequently asked questions
Which languages and countries are supported?
There is no fixed list: you can upload a report from a lab in any country, and Salubase matches each marker to a standard name whatever the language of the report. For example, "Hämoglobin" (German) and "Hemoglobina" (Spanish) both become Hemoglobin. Uncertain matches are flagged for you to review, and the app itself is in English.
What file types can I upload?
You can upload a PDF, or a photo or scan saved as JPEG or PNG, up to 10 MB per file. The type is checked from the file itself, not its name.
What happens to my original file?
Your original file is deleted once its results are extracted. Until then, our servers and an AI provider read it to find your results. If extraction fails, the file is kept so the report can be retried. The file's name, upload time and a fingerprint used to spot duplicate uploads stay with your account and are not encrypted (see What we can see).
What does zero-access encryption mean in practice?
It means your results are encrypted to your own key before they are saved, and Salubase cannot decrypt them. Your report is readable while it is being processed: our servers and an AI provider read it to find your results. Which tests you had, file names and upload times are not encrypted. A stolen copy of our database is no use without your recovery phrase, passkey or password. How the encryption works has the details.
What if I lose my recovery phrase?
You can still unlock your results with your passkey or password if you set one up, but the phrase is shown only once and cannot be shown again. If you lose every way to unlock your key, your results cannot be recovered, because Salubase keeps no copy of your key that could restore access. Keep the twelve words written down somewhere offline.
Can I export my data?
Yes: "Export My Data" in the Account section of your dashboard downloads your results, the names and upload times of your reports, your account email, consent history and subscription details, as Markdown or JSON. Your results are decrypted in your browser for the export, so unlock your encryption first; exported while locked, they stay encrypted.
Does Salubase give medical advice?
No: Salubase is for information only and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It shows your results against reference ranges so high and low values stand out, which is not a substitute for professional medical judgement. Always talk to a qualified healthcare provider before acting on your results (see our Terms).
Can I use my results with ChatGPT or other AI assistants?
Yes, by exporting them: the Markdown or JSON export can be pasted or uploaded into an AI assistant yourself. Salubase has no built-in connection to AI assistants. Whatever you share that way is outside Salubase's encryption and is handled under the assistant provider's own terms.
